I am delighted to welcome students into Year 8. Our aim is to continue developing a good, supportive relationship with your son; to enable us to do this I will be monitoring their academic and social progress closely. As their Achievement Coordinator I will be encouraging all students in the year to be the best they can be by not only achieving to the best of their ability but also in supporting others in the school community. Already, it has been particularly encouraging to see how supportive the students have been of each other and of our new Year 7 intake. Students look very smart in their new uniform and are proving to be a credit to themselves, to you and to our school.
As you are aware your child is in a tutor group with a member of staff assigned as his tutor. The tutor is central to the students’ experience at school and is an integral part of their year team. The tutor is responsible for ensuring that students feel safe, secure and supported during their secondary education. Please contact the form tutor for your son if you have general concerns, or the subject teacher where there is a specific curriculum question. Contact can be made through email or via the school reception.
Academic progress is achieved through excellent attendance and punctuality. Students should aim for 100% attendance and as registration starts at 8.35 promptly be in school by 8.25.
